About

I didn’t really live until I had my little one. Don’t get me wrong, I remember that time BB, Before Baby, but it wasn’t as charmed, magical, refreshing, uplifting, frustrating, confusing, bewildering time as AB, After Baby.

If you’re a parent, you know what I mean. And as a parent, sometimes  you just want to express your thoughts. Not just thoughts regarding your kiddo, or work, or relationships…but like Jack Handy thoughts, really deep thoughts….

Maybe, not quite those thoughts….but concerns, questions, lessons learned, etc.

My husband and I had the usual new baby concerns and questions. The typical wonderings of ‘Is this the right diaper?’ and we also had the blessed opportunity to have a different kind of normal.

You see, our little one was born with severe to profound hearing loss. We had a bit more than just the typical new baby concerns. For my readers who have kiddo’s with ‘differences’ from the world, you know what I’m talking about. I hate the words disabled, handicapped, challenged, abnormality, impairment, affliction, deficiency, dysfunction. And right off the bat, those words crept into our lives via medical professionals. If you are diagnosed with anything, from toe fungus to cancer, that diagnosis can creep into your mind and begin to define you. That diagnosis can make you a victim. ‘Why do I have these horrible yellow, thick, nasty toenails!?!’ or  just ‘Why me?!’ That question, ‘Why me?’ is a question that is appropriate and perfectly normal. But ‘Why me?’ isn’t a good place to stay. It can be a down-right depressing place to live.

I’m hoping to just offer an alternate perspective, and maybe, a bit of odd humor.

So thank you for reading!

God bless!
